I wouldn't have ended it any other way! My review of Rapture by Lauren Kate

Summary
The sky is dark with wings . . . .

Like sand in an hourglass, time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past they must find the place where the angels fell to earth. Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this—live only to lose Luce again and again.

Yet together they will face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies . . . and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed. And suddenly Luce knows what must happen.

For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her—and the love she cast aside. The choice she makes now will be the only one that truly matters.

In the fight for Luce, who will win?

Review
This series had a love / hate relationship with me.

The first book had me hooked from the very first chapter. I loved the mystery behind Daniel, the forbidden attraction between him and Luce, and the extra spice that Cam through into the mix. That was definitely my kind of book!

Book two only got better from there. This book reader loves a little heartache in a story. If a book can make me cry, I'm gonna love it. This book definitely accomplished that! Throw in the cliff hanger of an ending. Yup, this book totally had me pining for book three.

Unfortunately book three is where things got a bit iffy. This book could have been so much more than it turned out to be. I expected more that's for sure. All in all, this book left me with a hallow feeling inside. The ending had a big thing to do with that. I just didn't love it.

I've got to admit I was a bit timid when going into book four. Was this book going to seal the deal. Love it or hate it. It could have gone either way. Thankfully Lauren Kate came through in this one! I honestly loved it. The mystery surrounding Luce kept me eagerly turning pages. In fact, I had to resist the urge to skip to the end multiple times. (With the help of a few awesome twitter followers) I had so many questions, I needed answers! When I finally got those answers, I was definitely happy with them. This is the last book in the series. Therefore it just had to be EPIC! The ending just had to be right! Right it was! I wouldn't have ended it any other way. Loved the book. Love this series! Sad to see it end!

Five stars from me!

  1. OMG! I can't wait to read this book. I have to say I just read the first book cuz I still don't have the others, but it seems that they're amazing!

  2. I agree! I thought the ending to this series was perfect. I was a little upset with the book in the beginning because I thought it was moving slow, but once it got going I was hooked. I have seen numerous people complaining about the ending- that they hated it or didn't understand it- but I thought it was the best way to sum it all up.

    Great review!

  3. I have to say that sadly, I didn't get into this series. When I first got my nook I bought the first 2 books and pre-ordered the 3rd. I should have just bought the one, because it wasn't for me and now I have the other 2 that I won't ever read and I can't even give them away lol!! I am glad that you really enjoyed the series though. Maybe if I went back to it I might enjoy it more.
