Absolutely beautiful and a bit dark! - My Review of Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Rating:

Summary
Around the world, black hand prints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil's supply of human teeth grows dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real; she's prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands"; she speaks many languages—not all of them human; and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out.

When one of the strangers—beautiful, haunted Akiva—fixes his fire-colored eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

Review
If there's anyone that has ever been skeptical of listening to a book on audio. Try this one! You won't be disappointed! The narrator and the way the story was told, have to be the main reasons why I love this book so much. It was told absolutely perfectly. I enjoyed it so much in fact, I'm going to have to wait till part two (Days of Blood and Starlight) comes out on audiobook as well!

The story itself, absolutely beautiful and a bit dark. People might look at this and think it's just another angel /demon book, but it's not! It's so not! Angels are shown in a whole new way in this story. And the so called "demons" tell an interesting tale all their own!  We've got love, and betrayal, magic and reincarnation, we've got so much! The story was incredibly brilliant. One I very much enjoyed. And the characters, well they were absolutely unforgettable! Tie all of it together with that "heart shattering" ending! We've got one heck of a read!

I've got to give 5 stars to this book! It deserves that and so much more! One of the best audiobooks I've had the chance to listen to. Read it! Listen to it! Just pick it up! This book is definitely worth your time!

  5. I loved this book, and have the second one on pre-order already. I sadly cannot do the whole audio book thing, but I did hear amazing things about this being done as an audio. Great Review. :)

  7. I loved this book! I heard the narration for it was great (I need to get my hands on the audio book) even for Akiva's voice! So excited for the sequel that's coming out in November!
