I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.
But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado - taking you with it - you have no choice but to go along, you know?
Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little bluebirds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still a yellow brick road - but even that's crumbling.
What happened? Dorothy.
They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.
My name is Amy Gumm - and I'm the other girl from Kansas.
I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.
I've been trained to fight.
And I have a mission.
I had mixed feelings for this particular book. It was recommended to me from a friend who gushed and gushed about it's awesomeness so it was a must read for me. Where do I start? It definitely showed promise, with a clever plot, and a good writing style. It kept me reading. But the story line kinda felt like it dragged a bit to me. There were just parts in the story that I felt didn't really need to be there, so I skipped a sentence here and a paragraph there, sometimes entire pages. That's never a good sign. I did have one major peeve as well... the main character. I kept finding myself shaking the book in frustration!! Come on girl! Grow a pair! (Excuse the language) There were so many characters counting on her, in fact the whole book rests on her shoulders and she just disappointed over and over. The fact that the ending of the book led to absolutely no where. I just... no. I'm sorry Dorothy and to my wonderful friend that loved this book so much.. but I just wasn't a fan. I sure tried though. Two stars from me for effort. Maybe I'll try book 2 just to see if this character ever makes something of herself. I sure hope she does! I'm routing for you Amy!
