It's the Frost by Kate Avery Ellsion Launch Party! This stop we've got the author's Music Playlist!!!

A very special THANK YOU to AToMR Tours and Julie for allowing me to be a part of this Launch Tour!

Book description:
In the icy, monster-plagued world of the Frost, one wrong move and a person might end up dead—and Lia Weaver knows this better than anyone. After monsters kill her parents, she must keep the family farm running despite the freezing weather and threat of monster attacks, or risk losing her siblings to reassignment by the village Elders. With dangers on all sides and treachery just one wrong step away, she can’t afford to let her emotions lead her astray. So when her sister finds a fugitive bleeding to death in the forest, a young man from beyond the Frost named Gabe, Lia surprises herself and does the unthinkable.
She saves his life.

Giving shelter to the fugitive could get her in serious trouble. The Elders have always described the advanced society of people beyond the Frost, the “Farthers,” as ruthless and cruel, and her village has nothing to do with them. But Lia is startled to find that Gabe is empathetic and intelligent…and handsome. She might even be falling in love with him.

But time is running out. The monsters from the forest circle her farm at night. The village leader is starting to ask questions. Farther soldiers are searching for Gabe. Lia must locate a secret organization called the Thorns to help Gabe escape to safety, but each move she makes puts her in greater danger. Is compassion—and love—worth the risk?

Here's some exclusive content from the author!! She gives us a look into her book playlist!

With most books I’ve written, I have a dedicated playlist with songs that represent various scenes, characters, or general relationships in the book. Frost wasn’t quite like that—I didn’t have a very structured plan when it came the music. Mostly I listened to things that put me in the mood to write about the world.

With some books, I listen to mostly pop or rock even if the setting of the story is somewhere ancient or old-fashioned. It just depends on the book. With Frost, I ended up listening to a lot of soundtracks and instrumental music.

Here are some of the things I had on repeat:

The Lady in the Water soundtrack, particularly the “Prologue” track

such beautiful, ethereal, and eerie music. The very end of it swells in a way that seems to coincide with a decision being made—like Lia deciding to take Gabe in and care for him despite the fact that he’s a Farther.

“Nero” (this title doesn’t fit the music at all, in my opinion) from the Archangel cd by TSFH
this instrumental piece is both beautiful and urgent, as if it’s the soundtrack for a character on the start of a journey. This song made me think of the trips into the village that Lia made in the book—while it was daylight and therefore not extremely threatening, she still felt the ominousness of the forest. But simultaneously, she also realized and appreciated the frozen beauty of her homeland.

“Injection” from the Mission: Impossible II soundtrack by Hans Zimmer
this track had a nice sense of haunting foreboding, and I think it’s also pretty epic in a quiet way.

“A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
this beautiful, wistful song captured some of the emotions Lia began to feel toward Gabe (although admittedly, the idea of being in love for a long time isn’t true for their story). She is a little afraid to love, and the lyrics touch on that idea.

“Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift (The Hunger Games soundtrack)
I didn’t actually get around to listening to this song until after I’d finished writing Frost, but I think the tone and the lyrics really fit the story, especially as it relates to Lia and her siblings.

“The Last Stand,” also by STFH on their Archangel cd
The beginning of this song is perfect for any scene where Lia is being chased through the woods by Watchers. It has a very primal feel to it in the beginning. I love it.
